Online Content Preservation

Recently our investigations are seeing the need for the gathering of information stored online, ‘in the cloud’. Facebook threats, online bullying, Facebook, Twitter and blog site postings have opened the floodgates for need to gather evidence from various websites hosted on computers connected to the internet.

Once again it is critical that evidence be gathered and preserved forensically, and in a timely manner.

Clients are also engaging us to preserve the evidence ‘while it’s there’. Intellectual property has been found to exist copied and pasted into other websites. In some cases the website page has been pulled down before we had a change to download it. It is important to act swiftly, and to conduct the documenting of online material using a forensic methodology to ensure its admissibility in court.
